IBTM World 2019 offers an exclusive package for senior corporate buyers.
IBTM World has announced the launch of its 32nd edition, which will take place in Barcelona from 19-21 November. New at this year’s event is a Corporate Buyers Programme, an exclusive package for c-suite and senior industry planners which provides additional benefits such as an exclusive one-day, peer-led conference addressing the issues facing corporate planners. It also gives corporate event planners an opportunity to network with peers in an intimate and exclusive setting and offers them flexibility to book appointments with exhibitors if they wish. IBTM has also announced the launch of a new Business Event, IBTM Asia Pacific. The event will take place on 6-8 April 2020 in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre.

ECM Summer School goes to London
European Cities Marketing announced that this year will see the 33rd ECM Summer School take place in London, UK, August 24-28, 2019. The renowned educational programme on the meetings industry will provide at least 50 new delegates with the basis and know-how to progress a rewarding career in the sector. The ECM Summer School is a learning opportunity for all professionals wishing to develop their knowledge and skills required for a carreer in the meetings industry. The course and content are designed for delegates working for Convention Bureaux, Tourist Offices, Congress Centres, Hotels, Venues and Airlines. The programme is also ideal for those working or wishing to work for DMCs, PCOs, Meeting, Event Planners and Exhibition organisers. Since 1987, the ECM Summer School sets out the background and context of the Meetings Industry with a focus on European and international best practices.

AIPC, ICCA, and UFI Launch Global Alliance
Three global associations serving the International Meetings Industry will collaborate more closely in the future: AIPC (The International Association of Convention Centres), ICCA (The International Congress and Convention Association), and UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) agreed to launch a Global Alliance. Together, they will facilitate collaboration and generate more comprehensive and better aligned benefits for the three associations’ respective members. The alliance has agreed to begin a program of exploring exchange and reciprocity in four primary areas: educational content, research, standards and advocacy. The three partners will begin by engaging in a series of educational exchanges incorporating each other’s knowledge content into their respective conferences and starting to align approaches taken to areas of common practice such as research and advocacy activities, beginning immediately. At the same time they are initiating a regular exchange between their respective leaderships

Cvent acquires DoubleDutch
Cvent announced that it has acquired DoubleDutch. This acquisition highlights Cvent’s investment in the mobile technology space and will complement and grow the company’s signature mobile event app and onsite solution capabilities. “We are extremely excited to add Double-Dutch to the Cvent family,” said Reggie Aggarwal, CEO and founder of Cvent. “We are also proud to welcome the talented DoubleDutch team to our more than 4,000 Cventers worldwide. Together, we will continue to drive innovation in how attendees engage at events.”
7,800+ hours for the charity
In 2018, MCI talents spent 7,800+ hours giving back to the community or offering their time on charity events as well as supporting 72 community projects. MCI raised over 1,8 million euros for charity. MCI off set its carbon emission and continued its partnership with Cool Earth. As a result, 9,600 trees were protected and 10,400 tonnes of CO2 locked-in. Those numbers were published via MCI‘s 2018 Digital Sustainability Report.
